-supports Green Berets, who are trained in guerilla warfare

-to improve LA relations, he creates the “Alliance for Progress”

-failed at Bay of Pigs

 

Confrontations with the Soviet Union

-meeting w/ Krushchev was unproductive and high tension, leads to Cuban Missile Crisis, where the Russians retaliate in Cuba what the US did in Turkey: nuke bases
